Consumers, both private and large-scale, have an important role in building sustainable, regional food supply chains. As launching customers they enable SMEs to choose Smart Specialization Strategies. Of course it also works the other way around: regional SMEs can inspire consumers with new products and solutions.

Reframe builds regional coalitions of large scale consumers who will declare their intentions towards regional suppliers. These intentions have been expressed in a number of meetings. In these meetings also a number of current challenges have been identified that must be met, in order to procure more food produced by regional SMEs. Reframe works with large scale consumers in meeting these challenges. In Germany one large scale consumer has already declared its intentions. Other regions will follow in the next phase of the project.
